These terms cover your use of the Mboago app and website: how an order is placed, what we commit to, what we expect from you and what happens when something goes wrong. They apply to every account, whether you order for yourself or for someone in Cameroon.
Accepting these terms
By creating an account or placing an order on Mboago, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 years old, or use the platform under the responsibility of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.
What Mboago does — and does not do
Mboago is a shopping and delivery service. When you place an order, you mandate us to buy the items or the pack on your behalf, at the price we show, and to have them delivered to the recipient you designate in Cameroon.
That means:
- we act in your name and on your behalf for the purchase and the delivery;
- we are not the seller or the manufacturer of the goods, and we do not hold stock of them;
- deliveries are carried out by drivers we select, verify and coordinate;
- we do not provide medical, legal or financial advice, and a delivered medicine is never a substitute for a prescription or for seeing a professional.
Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information on your account and for keeping your sign-in method confidential. Access is protected by a one-time code sent to your email address — never share it with anyone, including someone presenting themselves as Mboago.
One account per person is the rule. Tell us immediately if you notice an order you did not place, and we will suspend the account and look into it.
Placing an order
An order becomes binding once payment is confirmed (or, when a manual validation is required, once our team accepts it) and we have assigned a driver.
A few things are worth knowing before you order:
- you choose the items, the pack or the amount you want to spend, plus the recipient and the delivery locality;
- the delivery fee depends on the locality chosen and is shown before you pay;
- a driver may contact the recipient to agree on the exact moment of the hand-over;
- if an item is unavailable, we contact you to replace it, adjust it or refund it — never to decide in your place;
- an order flagged by our fraud checks is put on hold and reviewed before any purchase is made.
Prices, fees and payment
Prices are displayed in the currency of the order, in most cases the CFA franc (XAF). The total you see before confirming — items, delivery fee and any applicable charge — is the total you pay: there are no hidden fees and no commission added at the last step.
Payments are handled by our payment partners: bank card through Stripe, mobile money through Flutterwave, and PayPal through PayPal. Your payment method may be subject to a currency conversion applied by your bank or by the provider, which we neither control nor receive.
An order is only prepared once the payment is confirmed. If a payment fails, the order is not created.
Delivery and proof of delivery
We deliver to the localities listed in the app. Indicative lead times are given for guidance and depend on the driver's route, the traffic and the availability of the items.
You agree to provide an address precise enough for a driver to find the recipient (locality, neighbourhood, landmark, phone number). Every delivery is documented with a photo, a video, a signature or a code, recorded in the app and visible on the order. Where the recipient is unreachable or refuses the delivery, the order is recorded as a failed delivery and our team contacts you to agree on what happens next.
Cancelling an order
You can cancel free of charge while the order is still awaiting a driver. Once a driver has started buying or collecting the items, cancellation depends on what has already been purchased, and the amounts that cannot be recovered may be deducted from the refund.
The exact cases, the amounts and the processing times are set out in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
What you commit to
- give accurate information about you, the recipient and the delivery address;
- order only lawful goods, and never weapons, drugs, protected species, counterfeit products or anything whose transport is restricted by Cameroonian law;
- not use the service to send money, to launder funds or to circumvent a payment control;
- treat drivers and support staff with respect — insults, threats and harassment lead to suspension;
- pay the orders you place, and not contest a charge for a delivery that was documented as completed.
An order that breaches these rules may be cancelled without refund, and the account may be closed.
Drivers
Drivers are independent partners, verified by us before their first delivery and evaluated after each order. They commit to buying exactly what was ordered, to documenting the delivery and to behaving respectfully.
Drivers never ask you for an extra payment outside the app. If that happens, refuse it and report it to us through support.
Reviews and content you publish
Reviews and stories you publish must reflect a genuine experience and must not contain insults, personal data about someone else, or unlawful content. You keep the rights on your content and grant us a licence to display it on the platform; we may remove content that breaches these terms.
Our responsibility
We are responsible for running the service with the care expected of a professional, and for the deliveries we organise. We are not responsible for a delay caused by an event outside our control (weather, roadblocks, a public authority decision), for the intrinsic quality of a product bought from a third-party seller, or for information you gave us that turned out to be wrong.
Where our responsibility is engaged, it is limited to the amount of the order concerned. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer under Cameroonian law, in particular Law No. 2011/012 of 6 May 2011 on consumer protection.
Suspension and closure of an account
We may suspend an account that is used fraudulently, that breaches these terms or that puts a driver or a recipient in danger, and we tell you why. You may close your account at any time from the app; a closure request is confirmed by a code sent to your email address, and outstanding obligations (an order in progress, a payment under review) are settled first.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Cameroonian law. Before any legal action, contact us through support: almost every disagreement is settled faster that way.
Failing that, the competent courts of Cameroon have jurisdiction, without depriving you of the protection you enjoy as a consumer in your country of residence.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms to reflect a new feature, a new payment method or a change in the law. The applicable version is the one published on this page on the day of your order, and significant changes are announced in the app.
For any question about these terms, write to us through the support conversation or using the contact details published on our website.
